Thursday April, 23rd. 6:00pm – 7:00pm ~ 8th Annual @PhilaIndie Animation Festival
1. T.P.(Animation) Director: Bob Bievins. (San Francisco/ Illinois, USA) 10 min. Whatsoever. A naïve roll of toilet paper awakens in a disgusting gas station bathroom, and is horrified to discover what fate has ins tore for his kind. Inspired by his traumatized but well-intentioned companion, he resolves to escape captivity and determine for himself how his destiny will unravel.
2. One Drink. (Animation) Director: Jacob Greenawalt. (Local) 1:37 sec. Everyone’s least favorite uncle gets drunk at the yearly holiday party”.
3. Butterfly Hunter (Animation) Director: Min Yu-Chin (Taiwan) 19 min. It’s a tradition for the family, the butterfly hunters, to finish their own pictures of butterflies. However, as time goes by, the environment changes and the forests begin to disappear rapidly, which makes butterflies diminish. How can these butterfly hunters accomplish their own works?
4. Junk Girl (Animation) Director: (Iran) 15 min. Based on Tim Burton’s short story “Junk girl” Zara & Kheiri’s claymation short is a visually stunning film. A lost girl made of junk struggles to find a place in a world that just wants to throw her away.
5. Fallen Phoenix (Animation) Director: Heather Larkin. (Washington, DC, USA) 5:19sec. ‘The Fallen Phoenix’ is the story of an established composer who struggles to write a masterpiece that pleases both himself and his sponsor. Ultimately, he realizes he has to choose between staying true to his art and pleasing those around him.
6. The Lost Mariner (Animation) Director: Tess Martin (Netherlands) 6m. The Lost Mariner is an animated interpretation of Dr. Oliver Sacks’ case study found in his book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. It uses photographs to visualize the rare memory condition of patient Jimmie G.
7. Looking Planet (Animation) Director: Eric Law Anderson (California, USA) 23 min “Life, for ever dying to be born afresh, for ever young and eager, will presently stand
